Background

The Le@rning Federation Metadata Exchange harvests metadata records of content suitable for schools from a range of cultural institutions. These records are stored in a central repository, and educational metadata is added to them. The metadata records are then distributed to all jurisdictions via the content distribution web service LORAX. This provides a single access point to the content, eliminating the need for users to identify and search individual cultural institution repositories.

Current status

The Metadata Exchange release 1.0 is now available. All jurisdictions are eligible to receive content published through the Metadata Exchange. The content can be downloaded via a web service. Jurisdictions that have adopted Scootle will receive the content automatically.

Further information

To find out about the underlying LORAX/REST web service for metadata sharing, download the LORAX documentation.
