Background

The Sharing Exchange is a repository for the Australian and New Zealand school sectors that enables digital content to be shared. The project involves the participation of stakeholders, the development of sophisticated software and the deployment of commonly accepted standards for educational metadata and content packaging.

Current status

Release 1.0 of the Sharing Exchange is now live, and the Northern Territory and South Australia have completed its implementation. The Sharing Exchange content is available to all jurisdictions via a web service. Those jurisdictions that have adopted Scootle receive the shared content automatically.

Following a successful pilot phase that resulted in more than 150 high-quality items of digital curriculum content being shared, The Le@rning Federation Consultative Committee has endorsed the Sharing Exchange as a national system for sharing.

Jurisdictions wishing to participate in the Sharing Exchange should implement the underlying LORAX/REST web service for sharing, and download the LORAX documentation.
